Splashathon

Every two years, Water Babies customers across the UK come together to showcase their superstar swimming skills with a ‘Splashathon’ fundraiser for Children’s Alliance and Tommy’s, the baby loss charity. Through this special sponsored swim, often in joyful fancy dress, Splashathon supports key projects which help children and young people to thrive.

Splashathon 2025

Dressed in their best pirate, mermaid and sea creature costumes, Water Babies swimmers across the UK raised a staggering £764,785 to support Children’s Alliance and Tommy’s.

The money raised could fund a Tommy’s research centre for 8 months, investigating the causes of miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth. For Children’s Alliance, the money raised will be vital in supporting local community initiatives to provide children with the opportunity to learn to swim and to inspire a lifelong love of water.

Fundraising through events like Splashathon is essential to achieving the purpose of Children’s Alliance: creating better starts and brighter futures for all children and young people, by fostering their physical development and wellbeing to give them the best possible start in life.

Splashathon 2024

In 2024, Water Babies swimmers dressed up in bright colours as they swam through Oceans of Imagination to raise a brilliant £701,087 for Children’s Alliance and Tommy’s.

So far in their mission, Children’s Alliance have…

  • Provided a year’s worth of swimming lessons for 25 children with cerebral palsy and other motor learning impairments with the Dame Vera Lynn Charity. That’s over 1,000 swimming lessons!
  • Helped Access Sport to integrate children with disabilities into swimming clubs across the UK, enabling them to access swimming in a way they couldn’t before.
  • Collaborated with We Are Beams, to facilitate access to swimming lessons for 38 children with ASD or ADHD at a reduced rate.

Children’s Alliance continues to use the money raised through Splashathon to fund key projects. From specialist swimming lessons for Special Educational Needs children and making swimming an inclusive sport through the provision of swimwear, to providing access to specific water sports which can help children with mental health issues.
